Charvet is a French brand established in 1838. It makes bespoke, made-to-measure and ready-to-wear shirts. All Charvet shirts are manufactured in France. They feature very neat single-needle stitching, bar tacks instead of gussets, non-fused collars, removable collar stays, flawless mother-of-pearl buttons (they’re sewn on by machines and shanked; thickness – 3 mm; MOP comes from Australia). Sleeves are sewn on at the end of the manufacturing process. There is no hand-stitching. Yokes are non-split. Patterns are matched carefully. The brand uses high quality 2-ply fabrics. If you are ordering a bespoke shirt, you can choose from more than 6000 fabrics.
The range of ready-to-wear shirts is not wide. There are solid colour, striped and checked shirts (for example, gingham ones). Colours and shades: white, light blue, blue, pink, lilac, teal, etc. Weaves: poplin, royal oxford. Collar shapes: Kent, semi-spread. Collars are relatively small. Buttoned and French cuffs (square edges, rounded edges). Sizes: 14.5 – 17.5 in. (= 37 – 44 cm). Slim fit (but not very slim), regular fit.
