Richard James is a menswear brand, which is based in London. It was established in 1992; nowadays it offers a wide range of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories as well as bespoke suits. Richard James shirts are made outside the UK. They feature genuine mother-of-pearl buttons (thin ones; machine-sewn without shanks), twin-needle stitching, removable collar stays. No hand-stitching, no gussets; non-split yokes. Sleeves are sewn on as usual. The brand uses 100% cotton and 100% linen fabrics; they’re usually good, but not excellent (in my opinion).
Richard James shirts are available in various patterns, sometimes unique and bold – for example, floral ones or deco stripes. Of course, the brand offers solid colour and striped shirts too (blue, light blue, gray, pink, white, apricot, lilac, indigo, navy, etc). Button cuffs; very rarely – French cuffs. Collars: cutaway, spread, camp, semi-spread, button-down; collars are usually fused. Weaves: poplin, twill, jacquard, oxford. Sizes: 15 – 17.5 in. (= 38 – 44 cm). You can buy Richard James shirts at MrPorter.com, Selfrdiges, com, RichardJames.co.uk. The prices start at 112 GBP (excl. VAT). Richard James shirts are available on sales twice a year (up to 70% off).
