Beams is a Japanese label launched by Yo Shitara in 1976. Beams+ shirts are manufactured in Japan. They are made of 100% cotton and 100% linen fabrics. Beams+ shirts feature single-needle stitching, large side gussets, thin troca shell buttons (at least sometimes; shell comes from Indonesia). Sometimes buttons feature logo engraving. No hand-stitching. Yokes are non-split. Beams Plus shirts usually have one or two chest pockets and a locker loop. All Beams Plus shirts are casual.
Beams Plus shirts are available in solid colours (white, blue, pink, navy), small and large checks (gingham, madras, plaid), candy stripes and fancy patterns. Unfortunately, large patterns are usually mismatched; small checks are usually matched in the chest pocket and the sleeve placket areas. Weaves: oxford, chambray, poplin, dobby. Flannel shirts are also available. Collars are non-fused. Collar styles: camp, button-down, semi-spread. Button cuffs. Two pleats above each cuff. Sizes: S-XL. Slim fit (in some cases it might be reasonable to try the next size up). Short and long sleeves. You can purchase Beams+ shirts at MrPorter.com or EndClothing.com. Prices start at 71 GBP (excl. VAT). Beams Plus shirts are put on sales twice a year (sometimes up to 60-70% off).
