Zimmerli boxers

Zimmerli is a Swiss brand of underwear established in 1871 by Pauline Zimmerli Baurlin. It used to produce very high quality garments, but as Alexander Kabbaz has said, since the brand was sold to a venture capital group several years ago, its quality has deteriorated (learn here why). Moreover, nowadays Zimmerli products are often made in Eastern Europe, though Swiss-made underwear is also available. Raw materials: mercerised cotton (very rarely – certified Sea Island cotton, sometimes Pima cotton), 95% micromodal + 5% elastane, 92% cotton + 8% elastane, 100% silk (19 mommes), 70% merino wool + 30% silk, 46% cotton + 46% micromodal + 8% elastane.

Zimmerli boxers

Zimmerli offer boxer briefs as well as woven boxer shorts. They’re usually available only in basic colours: black, blue and white (with no patterns or micro patterns – like micro checks). However, you can find pink and striped Zimmerli boxer briefs too. Available sizes: S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL. Zimmerli boxer shorts feature inserted back panels, double-needle stitching and waistbands with several rows of stitching. Buttons are made of mother-of-pearl (at least sometimes). They’re machine-sewn without shanks.

Kabbaz-Kelly shop (CustomShirt1.com) still offers Zimmerli underwear made in ‘the golden era’ of the brand. Their prices start at 69 USD (no VAT) – as far as boxer briefs are concerned. Recently produced Zimmerli boxers are available at Zimmerli.com, MrPorter.com, MatchesFashion.com, SocksFox.com, Selfrdiges.com, Oger.nl, HarryRosen.com. Prices start at 32 GBP (excl. VAT). Sometimes Zimmerli underwear is put on sales (up to 50% off).
