Go Buy Now: Army Jackets
February 9th, 2010 admin

Here at Who What Wear headquarters, we know how to take orders from our favorite designers. So when they instructed us that the military jacket was the next big thing, we said, “Sir, yes Sir!” and marched right, left, right to the flak jacket beat. After all, we could hardly resist this hero piece that stylishly invaded the S/S 10 shows and nearly knocked the little leather jacket into the outlying provinces. In the face of the glam barracks wear at Balmain, the precisely cut styles at Rag & Bone, and pretty girl iterations seen at Charlotte Ronson, we had no choice but to wave the white flag and surrender to this serious spring essential.

Preparing for battle is rarely an overnight affair; it takes months of scoping out the situation, investigating the landscape, and knowing your exact strategy, so you can strike at the most foolproof juncture. We like to think the same high-profile procedures apply to one of our most coveted seasonal essentials—the army jacket. This particular...

If there’s one thing that dictates how we dress more than anything else, it’s the weather. But, lo! The weather! It is perfect right now! Oh, the leather jacket. Never before has one piece garnered so much attention in the “save or splurge” category. You know the pros and cons of each by now, so let’s jump ahead to a much more exciting debate: real vs. faux leather. Faux leather is usually easy to distinguish from real, and a faux jacket can run you anywhere from...

Attention, dear readers! This season, drab is directional thanks decidedly chic combat-ready collections from Balmain’s Christophe Decarnin and Marc Jacobs. When these two industry heavy-hitters both showed military-inspired looks on their S/S 10 runways, we knew it was only a matter of time before the army coat blitz began. Like clockwork,...

British designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville like to use men’s tailoring in their women’s collections, and this spring is no exception. The latest collection includes meticulous tailoring in blazers and coats, but also plenty of comfortable, slouchy pieces, and lots of layers. Let’s start with the Rag & Bone Waterfront...

You’d think that if you’d invest a little extra cash into a sweet designer piece, you’d be getting something with a little value. Not so with these designer disasters. We’ve rounded up some of the cheapest-looking expensive items—even from beloved designers like Balmain and Yves Saint Laurent—that have made us...

While shearling is typically associated with cozy-but-ugly footwear, when this plush fabric is put into the right hands, it becomes the key component for fall’s hottest outerwear. That’s right: this season, the slightly cropped shearling jacket is the must-have piece for fashion fanatics around the world. Just think of it as the next...

Leather jackets are more than just something we put on, they are a fashion statement. They define attitude and style as well as define the person. No other jacket on the market can give such a variety of personality and style. They can be cool and rugged in some designs while others are very sexy.
