Growing up, opening the stocking was always one of my favorite parts of the holidays. It was notoriously crammed full, spilling out the top, and perfectly misshapen from its original form. No matter all the tiny surprises I found inside, I could always rely on a fresh orange and penny hiding underneath to fill out the toe.
