Exhibiting a handpicked collection of designers in the modern, loft style, penthouse floor of the Cooper Building downtown, FIRST.LA proved to be a success by gathering the most forward design in the LA contemporary market.

  Jen Awad is an eclectic, Los-Angeles based designer whose exotic designs reflect her mixed Peruvian and Egyptian descent. Jen graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in June 2008, having found her passion for fashion at an early age. A self-taught painter, artist and musician, Jen Awad fronts the band The Great Entity, performing regularly at LA venues when shes not designing. Preferring a clash between embellishment and tattoos, rocker Jen incorporates glamour and edgy elegance into her designs. For her Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Jen combined her love for rock n roll and fashion, meshing feminine details with edgy cuts. With each collection, Jen Awad aims to tell a story with each piece and emphasize an element of theatrics.

  Eclectic Designer Yotam Solomon Spe...
  Los Angeles based designer, Yotam Solomon felt a passion for fashion when his grandparents would show him an array of international designer apparel. He studied at esteemed art schools, both in Israel and in the United States, completing his studies in 2007 at Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. As a student at FIDM, he showed in New York and LA Fashion Week. While working in pattern making for an upscale mens label, Solomon was inspired to create his own label: YOTAM SOLOMON Luxury Brand, made for eco-friendly Avant Garde living. He presented his Spring-Summer 2008 Ready to Wear and Footwear Collection during LA Fashion Week in October 2007. With continual mentions of his designs in publications like British Vogue and a new, more affordable line out titled YOTAM SOLOMON 2, Yotam Solomon is only getting better with time.

  Gen Art Los Angeles Alumni Designer...
  We patrolled the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood as Gen Art kicked off the LA Fashion week with its Alumni Designer Celebration. The event hosted by Amber Rose featured 20 new designers now graduates of the organization. The glamorous pool side event attracted VIPs, stylists, trendsetters, designers as well as celebrities like Briana Evigan, Alexandra Leighton, Danielle Bisutti, Katie Gill, Bobby Trendy, Jazmin Whitley and many others. Gen Art is a national non-profit organization that helps emerging talents in film, fashion, music and the visual arts. For aspiring designers, a showing at Gen Art could mean launching a major fashion career. Zac Posen, Louis Verdad and Phillip Lim are some of Gen Arts most notable alumni.
